ICF is looking for On-Call Archaeologists at both Crew Member and Crew Chief levels to join our cultural resources team in the Pacific Northwest. You'll conduct essential fieldwork across Washington and Oregon, contributing to projects that balance development with environmental and cultural stewardship.
What You'll Do
- Perform archaeological fieldwork including construction monitoring, survey, testing, evaluation, and data recovery.
- Conduct laboratory analysis, background research, and contribute to report writing.
- Support logistics and preparation for fieldwork activities.
- Take detailed field notes and identify precontact and historic-period artifacts.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in archaeological fieldwork (monitoring and survey for Crew Member; supervising survey for Crew Chief).
- A valid driver’s license and successful Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.
- Ability to hike up to 10 miles per day in rugged terrain.
- Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with ICF staff and construction personnel.
- Strong knowledge of computers, smart devices, and data entry in application interfaces.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Nice to Have
- Experience in precontact or historic-period archaeology of the Pacific Northwest.
- Ability to independently record archaeological sites and produce quality notes, forms, and geospatial data (for Crew Chief).

You'll be part of a cultural resources team that includes experts in architectural history, history, archaeology, GIS, data management, environmental regulations, and planning.
Benefits & Compensation
- Crew Member: $25 to $30 per hour.
- Crew Chief: $30 to $35 per hour.
- Full-time equivalent pay range: $55,388.00 - $94,160.00.
Work Mode
This is a hybrid role. Work locations include the Pacific Northwest (Washington and Oregon), with specific hubs in Seattle, WA and Portland, OR. Candidates must be based remotely in Washington or Oregon.
