About the Role

TD Bank is seeking an Application Release Engineer - Automation II to provide integrated guidance across business, product, and technology teams for software release best practices. In this role, you will bring release engineering expertise to the end-to-end management and deployment of code, ensuring self-service, high velocity, and robust automation.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the development and definition of automated mechanisms for software engineers to deploy code in a repeatable fashion across all environments.
  • Design, implement, and maintain an automated build and install/deploy process; develop and maintain build scripts.
  • Evaluate and recommend optimal solutions within business technology architecture by collecting environment requirements and analyzing current systems.
  • Develop and recommend technical strategies to maintain and/or expand service levels.
  • Integrate technical solutions within the business environment, recognizing system interdependencies and reusability.
  • Define and maintain appropriate security levels for processes, information exchange, and system implementations.
  • Act as an expert resource providing insight based on industry trends, system strategy, and design.
  • Perform functions for cloud services and products.
  • Apply the guiding principles of an engineering and service philosophy—self-service, high velocity, hermetic builds, policy enforcement—to release practices.
  • Contribute to the development of guiding principles and the creation of ARE metrics to demonstrate automation progress.
  • Identify, recommend, source, and implement improvements that enhance customer experience, availability, and reduce costs.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional initiatives as a subject matter expert, providing guidance for complex situations.
  • Interact with governance and control groups to consult on risk issues related to Engineering technology.
  • Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and manage risks, escalating non-standard, high-risk activities as necessary.
  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control in alignment with risk appetite.
  • Support a positive, quality-driven work environment and ensure timely communication.
  • Continuously enhance knowledge and participate in knowledge transfer within the team.
  • Keep current on emerging trends and grow knowledge of the business and related tools.
  • Participate in personal performance management, development activities, and cross-training.
  • Keep others informed about project status and relevant information.
  • Contribute to team success by assisting others and providing training or coaching as appropriate.

  • Consult and engage peers in Engineering, Operations, and Development teams on operational support.

  • Manage large-scale applications, systems, or projects across multiple product lines.
  • Understand strategic direction and champion alliances to benefit the Bank.
  • Advocate for operational improvements and provide recommendations for resolutions and strategies.
  • Foresee issues and gaps by identifying emerging industry trends and their implications.

What We're Looking For

  • University or post-graduate degree.
  • Strong academic background (e.g., computer science, engineering).
  • 7+ years of relevant experience.

Team & Environment

You will report to the Application Release Engineering Segment Practice Lead and work within a collaborative structure dedicated to engineering excellence.
