URBN's Anthropologie brand is looking for a Senior Designer for Sweaters to set the overall trend and direction for designs each season. You will supervise designers and ensure the product vision aligns with market trends and business strategy.
What You'll Do
- Initiate and complete line plan requirements on a seasonal basis, ensuring product consistency with market trends and business strategy.
- Research emerging trends and inspiration relevant to the Anthropologie product.
- Contribute to finding inspiration based on the concept direction.
- Supervise Assistant/Associate Designers and delegate responsibilities to support the workload.
- Globally source raw materials and partner with Product Development to develop them within pricing guidelines.
- Communicate style details and collaborate with Technical Design to set up specifications for confirmed silhouettes.
- Partner daily with Product Development on the status of styles to ensure execution meets design specifications.
- Attend weekly fittings and all relevant design meetings.
- Travel to factories for development and program execution as needed.
- Develop, train, and lead Assistant and Associate Designers.
What We're Looking For
- At least 7 years of experience in knitwear design.
- High creativity with the ability to recognize and forecast fashion and cultural trends for the Anthropologie customer.
- Expert knowledge of garment construction, knit machines, yarns, trims, washes, and the ability to mock and drape on dress forms.
- Detailed understanding of knit and woven manufacturing processes and techniques.
- Ability to respond to business objectives with creative, innovative, and commercial design solutions.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Energetic team player with excellent communication skills to collaborate with partners in Design, Buying, PD, and Production.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Strong hand sketching skills.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion, Business, or a related field.
- Experience with Web PDM.
