PayPal is hiring an Android Software Engineer to shape self-service messaging experiences for our customers. You will design and build scalable Android solutions for the Help Center and Contact Us features, creating reusable components used across PayPal, Venmo, and Hyperwallet.
What You'll Do
- Implement tasks within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), with guidance from senior team members.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable Android solutions for Help Center and Contact Us experiences.
- Own features end-to-end, including design discussions, implementation, code reviews, testing, automation, and production releases.
- Build reusable Android components and frameworks that support long-term platform scalability and consistency.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to translate product requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Apply modern Android architecture patterns and engineering best practices to ensure high performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Explore and contribute to AI-driven enhancements that improve customer engagement and operational efficiency.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and code quality leadership within the team.
- Collaborate with peers, manager, and project lead to gain understanding of tasks and review solutions.
- May contribute to code and design reviews.
What We're Looking For
- 1+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional Android development experience with strong proficiency in Kotlin and working knowledge of Java.
- Deep expertise in Android SDK, Jetpack Compose, and XML-based UI development.
- Strong experience with Jetpack components, Coroutines, and Flows.
- Solid understanding of Android architecture patterns (MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture) and dependency injection frameworks.
- Proven experience building modular, scalable Android applications.
- Strong debugging, performance optimization, and profiling skills.
- Hands-on experience with automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with mobile AI/ML frameworks and interest in applying AI to mobile user experiences.
