Univar Solutions is looking for an Analytics Engineer to design, build, and optimize data solutions that enable trusted insights across the organization. You will bridge business needs and technical capabilities by translating requirements into scalable data models, transformations, and standardized metrics, helping to ignite transformation in our industry.
What You'll Do
- Develop and optimize SQL-based transformations and analytical datasets for dashboards and applications.
- Design and maintain core business metrics and KPIs, ensuring consistent definitions.
- Analyze data outputs to identify root causes, data quality issues, and process inefficiencies.
- Measure system performance and data quality against standards, proactively identifying improvements.
- Create and maintain data documentation, including models, metric definitions, and lineage.
- Support analytics testing by developing validation checks and test scenarios.
- Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) for analytics solutions.
- Implement routine platform and data model improvements to reduce technical debt.
- Assist leadership in evaluating data risks and developing mitigation strategies.
- Translate business objectives into analytics-ready data models and solutions.
- Partner with Product Owners, Analytics Leaders, and stakeholders to design and evolve solutions.
- Review requirements, identify data needs, and produce specifications for development.
- Collaborate with data architects, engineers, and BI developers to ensure solutions meet standards.
- Act as a liaison between business and technical teams to clarify needs and resolve challenges.
- Support analytics backlog grooming and prioritization.
- Develop enablement materials like metric definitions and reporting guides.
- Provide training and knowledge-sharing sessions to improve data literacy.
- Support end users by troubleshooting data and reporting issues.
- Assist with analytics support intake and prioritization.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree from a fully accredited institution or equivalent work experience.
- 5-7 years of experience in a Business-to-Business service organization, preferably as a Business or Systems Analyst.
- Strong proficiency with SQL and cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Fabric, Databricks), including building analytical datasets.
- Experience working with analytics and BI tools (e.g., Power BI), supporting both standardized reporting and self-service.
- Advanced data analysis skills to assess data, identify patterns, and translate findings into insights.
- Solid understanding of analytics engineering concepts: data modeling, metric standardization, quality validation, and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with enterprise systems and data domains (CRM, ERP, BI, marketing) and how data flows across them.
- Ability to partner effectively with stakeholders to translate business questions into analytical requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrates adaptability when working across cross-functional teams, vendors, and data consumers.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within agile, cross-disciplinary teams.
- Applies sound judgment, critical thinking, and attention to detail when designing and validating solutions.
- Receptive to feedback and committed to continuous improvement of skills and practices.
