Everlaw is hiring an AI Engineer to lead the design and implementation of our technical AI strategy. You will drive the work of a core squad of AI engineers and provide technical guidance across the broader engineering organization, collaborating with a community of senior engineers across technical domains.
What You'll Do
- Lead the design and implementation of Everlaw's technical AI strategy.
- Stay on the cutting edge of the latest frontier models, including participating in early access programs with major AI labs.
- Devise our overall approach to using AI at trillion-token scale.
- Guide the work of engineers across our company in using AI.
- Share learnings with the team through structured feedback, tech talks, or leading study groups on AI research papers.
- Collaborate with software engineers, security engineers, data scientists, product leads and designers, and other cross-functional teams.
- Be on the lookout for new opportunities that AI enables and influence our engineering and product direction.
What We're Looking For
- At least 6 years of experience working in ML/AI.
- 10+ years overall in software engineering.
- Led significant AI projects, including applied use of LLMs in production settings and experience with NLP/text analysis.
- Programming skills in at least one scripting language like Python.
- A constant learner, staying abreast of the latest AI developments from the industry.
- Able to collaborate effectively with coworkers on different teams and explain technical concepts without jargon.
Nice to Have
- Used Retrieval-based LMs or hybrid approaches with RAG to find answers in very large custom data sets.
- Designed approaches for storage and representation of knowledge, and are familiar with vector and graph databases.
- Explored multimodal approaches, including image, audio, or video processing.
- Built agents to accomplish tasks, including approaches for supervision, backtracking, exception handling, tool use, MCP, etc.
- Previous experience with SaaS and distributed systems.

You will lead a core squad of AI engineers within the broader engineering organization, reporting to the Chief Technology Officer and other senior leaders.

- Compensation range: $228,000 - $340,000.
