WeTravel is launching its AI Lab, a fast-moving, experiment-driven team focused on discovering new AI solutions. As our first AI Engineer, you will work hand-in-hand with a Product Manager to ideate, prototype, and test Agentic AI workflows that solve high-impact problems for travel organizers and internal teams. This role is about rapid experimentation, building proof-of-concepts, validating them in the real world, and handing them off to product teams for full-scale rollout.
What You'll Do
- Partner with the AI Lab Product Manager to design, build, and iterate on AI prototypes — from concept to working MVPs.
- Architect and deliver Agentic AI solutions such as automated Itinerary builder workflows, AI-powered sales agents for organizers, and automation of the top 3 most time-consuming organizer tasks.
- Work autonomously to build working prototypes in isolation from the main system, enabling high-speed iteration.
- Run rapid experiments — validating or disproving product hypotheses in days, not weeks.
- Ensure smooth handover of validated projects to product engineering teams, including documentation, training, and technical guidance.
- Stay ahead of AI trends, frameworks, and tooling to continuously improve our experimentation velocity.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, designers, and product teams to explore and evaluate AI opportunities.
- Maintain a “move fast without breaking things” mindset — balancing speed with quality, stability, and compliance.
What We're Looking For
- 6+ years of software engineering experience building production systems.
- Strong engineering skills and proven experience in GenAI / LLM applications, having built and launched LLM-enabled products to customers.
- Demonstrated ability to design, build, and ship working prototypes independently.
- Proven track record of rapid iteration and experimentation.
- Proficiency with LLM providers and SDKs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta).
- Experience with AI orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, etc.) or custom-built solutions.
- Ability to design and implement RAG pipelines end-to-end (ingestion, embeddings, vector stores, search, evaluation).
- Knowledge of performance and cost optimization for AI workloads.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), containerization, and CI/CD.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Cross-functional collaboration experience.
- Ability to mentor and train others on AI concepts.
Nice to Have
- Understanding of model training, fine-tuning, and when to apply different approaches.
- Prior work on agentic AI systems.
- Experience with small language models (SLMs) for latency-sensitive workloads.
Technical Stack
- React
- ReactNative
- TypeScript
- Ruby on Rails
- Python
- Kubernetes
- MongoDB
- MySQL
- Postgres
- Snowflake
