Schaeffler is seeking an AGV Technology Expert to spearhead the advancement and optimization of Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) technology within our manufacturing plants across China. In this role, you will be instrumental in identifying application opportunities, developing solution concepts, and providing expert guidance for project implementation. Your core mission is to design customized AGV solutions tailored to Schaeffler's unique operational environments, ultimately driving improvements in process efficiency, safety, and innovation.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with plant teams to assess current operations and identify precise application scenarios for AGVs in material handling, logistics flow, and workflow optimization. Conduct feasibility studies and analyze potential benefits and ROI.
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and management teams to establish an AGV integration strategy, covering system layout design, navigation method selection, and integration with existing automation infrastructure.
- Provide specialized technical guidance throughout the entire AGV lifecycle, from selection and configuration to testing and deployment. Resolve technical challenges during implementation to ensure solutions meet safety standards and Schaeffler-specific requirements.
- Design or adapt specialized AGV models to meet unique plant needs, such as handling special loads, navigating complex layouts, or operating in harsh environments, incorporating innovative features to enhance performance.
- Monitor emerging AGV technologies and industry trends to promote innovative solutions for plant optimization. Conduct training sessions or workshops to build internal team capabilities in AGV technology.
- Coordinate between plants, suppliers, and R&D teams to align project goals, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring smooth project execution.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Automation, or a related field.
- 5-7+ years of hands-on experience in AGV development.
- Proven experience managing AGV projects from concept design through to full-scale rollout.
- Deep expertise in core AGV technologies, including navigation systems (e.g., laser, vision, magnetic), control software, sensor integration, and safety regulations.
- Proficiency with simulation tools (e.g., AutoCAD, ROS) and programming languages (e.g., Python, C++) for customized AGV development.
- Ability to creatively solve complex problems and drive technological innovation in dynamic settings.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Chinese and English, with the ability to effectively collaborate across functions and convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- A proactive, results-oriented mindset with strong analytical skills. Willingness to travel to Schaeffler plants across China as required.
Nice to Have
- A Master's degree is preferred.
- Experience with Physical AI or related fields is a plus.
- Previous experience in designing customized AGVs.
- Familiarity with Schaeffler or similar automotive manufacturing environments.
- Understanding of Industry 4.0 concepts, IoT integration, or AI-enhanced AGV technologies.
