AdventHealth is hiring a part-time Acute Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) at our Wesley Chapel location. You will implement treatment plans established by an Occupational Therapist, providing direct patient care and education. This role is central to our mission of extending the healing ministry of Christ by uplifting patients in body, mind, and spirit.
What You’ll Do
- Implement treatment plans, considering practice standards, insurance guidelines, and patient needs.
- Use appropriate therapy procedures, document data, and follow individualized care plans.
- Provide patient and family education, including home exercise programs for treatment carryover.
- Support marketing and public awareness through participation in community events.
- Conduct age-appropriate assessments and interventions.
- Act as a clinical instructor and mentor to students and new staff.
- Engage in ongoing review of therapy policies and recommend updates.
- Document interventions and patient progress accurately and timely.
- Maintain defined productivity standards and adjust work hours to meet patient needs.
- Ensure patient safety and adhere to hospital and departmental policies.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and educational events.
What We’re Looking For
- Associate degree.
- Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) license.
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS).
- Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Windows, and EMR systems.
- Ability to read, write, and speak conversational English effectively.
- Ability to communicate effectively in written, verbal, and electronic forms.
- Entry-level knowledge of principles of medical occupational therapy for diagnostics and treatment.
Nice to Have
- National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
