About the Role

AIG is seeking an Actuary to join its Managing General Agent (MGA) team. In this role, you will provide integral support for the pricing, monitoring, and profitability assessment of all MGAs across Australia and New Zealand. Reporting directly to the MGA Actuarial Lead, you will collaborate across geographical and functional boundaries to advance the organization’s strategic MGA objectives.

What You'll Do

  • Support proactive, regular portfolio management to ensure sustainable profitable growth.
  • Support the development and implementation of best-practice portfolio management and monitoring tools, covering top-line metrics and key lead indicators.
  • Support the regular assessment of profitability.
  • Support the development of new or refinement of existing pricing models and technical raters, applying advanced analytics where appropriate.
  • Support detailed profitability studies and budget loss ratio analysis by segment to inform strategy and risk appetite.
  • Support due diligence analysis for new MGA opportunities.
  • Assist with proactive engagement with underwriters, functions, and MGAs to provide strategic direction and recommendations.
  • Assist in other ad-hoc analyses as required.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or another quantitative field.
  • Prior general insurance experience in a similar position.
  • Demonstrated experience in pricing, monitoring, and portfolio management.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet tight deadlines, and prioritize your own work.
  • A proven track record of collaboration, delivering quality, accurate results efficiently.
  • Professional behaviour with a high level of integrity, including strong interpersonal skills.
  • Effective project and time management abilities coupled with strong communication skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Valid rights to work in Australia, as employer sponsorship is not available for this position.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in programming across at least one of Python, R, or SQL.
  • Experience with databases and proficient data extraction and manipulation skills.
