About the Role

VSolvit is looking for an Actuarial Analyst to join our team. You will assist in financial analysis, pricing, and risk assessment to estimate outcomes and provide actuarial services to develop best-practice models. Your work will support the development of our rate structure, maintenance of adequate reserves, and the creation of new products.

What You'll Do

  • Navigate IT and internal data structures to create processes that bolster operational efficiencies.
  • Design, generate, interpret, and present periodic and ad hoc reporting to management and clients.
  • Utilize SQL, BI Data Cubes, and Excel to analyze company-wide data to detect trends in sales, claims, and agent/customer behavior.
  • Accurately and quickly fulfill reporting and information requests from various internal departments and clients.

What We're Looking For

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics/Decision Science, Mathematics, or a related analytical field.
  • Passage of at least three SOA/CAS actuarial exams with intent to sit for future exams.
  • Significant experience with Microsoft Excel and SQL, with the ability to use both tools to analyze and interpret data.
  • Three years’ experience with the creation and maintenance of relational databases.
  • Excellent and effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Initiative and drive necessary to succeed in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and able to successfully pass a background check.

Nice to Have

  • Prior insurance or auto industry experience, management/strategy consulting experience, or prior work as a business, financial, or operational analyst.
  • Experience with modeling software such as R, EMB, Earnix or data visualization with Tableau.
