About the Role
The role involves handling accounting tasks specific to clinical research trials, including budget tracking, invoice processing, and financial documentation, while collaborating with research and finance teams to maintain fiscal integrity.
Responsibilities
- Process vendor invoices associated with clinical trial activities
- Monitor and reconcile trial-specific budgets across multiple projects
- Support month-end and quarter-end close procedures for research accounts
- Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and audit requirements
- Maintain accurate records of trial-related expenditures
- Collaborate with project managers to forecast financial needs
- Track contract milestones and associated payments
- Prepare financial reports for internal stakeholders
- Assist in audits related to clinical research funding
- Manage accruals and adjustments for ongoing trials
- Review trial budgets against actual spending
- Coordinate with external partners on payment terms
- Update accounting systems with trial financial data
- Identify discrepancies in billing and resolve promptly
- Support the development of trial cost estimates
- Ensure proper documentation for all financial transactions
- Communicate financial status updates to supervisors
- Follow internal controls for research-related disbursements
- Assist in the preparation of funding justifications
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and trial data
- Work with legal and procurement teams on contract terms
- Track grant-related expenses where applicable
- Provide backup support during staff absences
- Adapt to changing project priorities efficiently
- Use accounting software to generate trial-specific reports
Nice to Have
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or enrolled in CPA program
- Experience with clinical trial accounting
- Knowledge of research grant accounting
- Familiarity with electronic data capture systems
- Experience working with decentralized teams
- Background in life sciences or pharmaceuticals
- Advanced Excel or data visualization skills
- Experience with ERP systems in a research context
Compensation
Competitive hourly rate based on experience
Work Arrangement
Remote with flexible hours; must overlap with Eastern Time business hours
