Washington University in St. Louis is hiring an Accounting Assistant III to serve as the primary budget and financial support person for multiple academic units within the Arts & Sciences Finance Cluster. You will prepare and administer department budgets, accounts, and reports to ensure efficient use of financial resources.
What You'll Do
- Initiate and review purchasing transactions while maintaining paperless documentation.
- Review all purchases for appropriate grant or university funding allocations and correct budget coding.
- Process spend authorizations and review travel expense reports for approval.
- Process internal and external invoices.
- Review reimbursement requests for appropriate funding allocation and coding.
- Enter requisitions into the Marketplace purchasing system and monitor the purchasing process.
- Work with academic unit leadership on the annual budget process, providing entry and reconciliation support.
- Monitor account balances, maintain encumbrances, process journals and budget amendments, and complete year-end closing.
- Coordinate with payroll to ensure accurate onboarding, biweekly/monthly/stipend payments, and payroll distribution reviews.
- Prepare accounting, financial, and budget reports for academic units and central offices.
- Assist with post-award grant reporting and reconciliation as needed.
What We're Looking For
- A high school diploma or equivalent, or a combination of education and experience.
- Three or more years of experience in accounting, business, or administrative support roles.
Nice to Have
- A bachelor's degree.
- Four or more years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
