The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is hiring an Access Supervisor. In this role, you'll supervise a team dedicated to patient access operations, ensuring smooth workflows from check-in to check-out. You will be instrumental in maintaining compliance, educating staff, and fostering a patient-centered work environment.
What You'll Do
- Supervise the daily operations of workflows including patient check-in/check-out, scheduling, registration, patient portals, online/e-requests, EPIC work queues, and physician referrals.
- Assume responsibility for the manager during their absence.
- Educate staff on scheduling requirements, physician templates, payer requirements, and government rules and regulations for compliance, registration, and customer service.
- Supervise department staff by monitoring activities and productivity daily, taking appropriate action to ensure consistent performance.
- Ensure the team meets expectations for work queue productivity, quality, and customer service.
- Seek out continuing education on regulatory changes and industry standards, providing timely updates to staff.
- Document personnel issues and promote a balanced, conducive work environment.
- Establish and maintain performance standards for productivity, quality, and compliance.
- Implement process improvements and report results.
- Supervise the day-to-day operations of assigned Access Coordinators and Patient Representatives.
- Work closely with management to develop, implement, and maintain formalized training plans.
- Be responsible for annual training facilitation, staff development, and providing employee coaching.
- Assist with and contribute to employee evaluations.
- Promote teamwork and model the core concepts of Patient Family-Centered Care.
- Conduct and assist with crucial conversations and progressive discipline when necessary.
- Conduct team meetings and one-on-one meetings with direct reports.
- Participate in new employee onboarding, training, and staff development.
- Ensure staff collects all frontend payments during the check-in process.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare or a related field plus three (3) years of experience in patient scheduling, registration, and billing in a healthcare environment OR
- High School Diploma/GED plus seven (7) years of experience in patient scheduling, registration, and billing, including three (3) years in a healthcare environment.
Nice to Have
- Advanced knowledge of the Epic system and third-party payer requirements.
- Supervisory experience.
