Penn State University's College of Earth and Mineral Sciences is hiring an Academic Advising Manager to serve as the director of advising for the college. This role provides leadership for the academic advising program and administrative oversight of the Ryan Family Student Center.

What You'll Do

Provide critical leadership for developing and maintaining the academic advising program within the College of EMS in collaboration with faculty and professional advisers.
Provide administrative leadership for advising operations of the RFSC, including professional development, supervision, and evaluation of assigned professional advising staff.
Serve as a central conduit for program, policy, and procedure updates to and from university groups and councils.
Direct the creation and dissemination of academic information to students, advisers, and appropriate university units regarding changes in program curricula, policies, and procedures.
Oversee the NCAA Student Athletic Verification Process.
Facilitate college advising professional development and related budget expenses.
Work collaboratively to create new programs and services that promote student success and enhance advising effectiveness.
Serve as Dean's Proxy, approving college-level academic decisions such as Change of Major, Change of Campus, Re-Enrollment, and Leave of Absence.
Provide academic advising services to a roster of EMS students, including exploratory students and students in academic difficulty.
Serve as lead College of EMS representative to the Office of Student Orientation and Transition Programs.
Build and shape the EMS content in the university NSO materials and provide leadership for the NSO Program within the College of EMS.
Lead initiatives to assess effectiveness of advising and pre-major programs in the College of EMS.
Analyze data, identify process improvement opportunities, and recommend policy/procedure modifications.
Collaborate with other members of the RFSC team to support the overall success of RFSC programs.
Assume strategic responsibility for the academic and transition support provided to EMS and EMS-bound DUS students at the campuses.
Support the rollout of changes in the EMS curricula and policies that have an impact on students at the commonwealth campuses.
Act as the lead advisor, planning and executing successful campus transitions to EMS at University Park.
Oversee the college outreach efforts contributing to the integration, retention, and overall achievements of change-of-campus students.

What We're Looking For

Master's Degree
8+ years of relevant experience, includes 3+ years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.
