West Virginia University was looking for a 4-H Youth Development Extension Agent

West Virginia University Extension Service is hiring a 4-H Youth Development Extension Agent to implement a comprehensive Extension program. This county-based faculty role serves Harrison County and supports regional activity, focusing on 4-H and youth development. This is a twelve-month, full-time, promotable, non-tenure track appointment at the academic rank of Service Instructor or Service Assistant Professor.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and execute a Plan of Work for 4-H and Youth Development programming.
  • Involve Extension Service Committees and community stakeholders to analyze needs and implement programs.
  • Use WVU and community resources to deliver county programs.
  • Identify, recruit, and develop volunteer leadership to assist with the program.
  • Develop and use systems for reporting program accomplishments.
  • Actively participate with Extension work teams to develop regional and statewide programs.
  • Engage in recruitment and student success activities to promote future enrollment at WVU or other institutions.
  • Develop, market, deliver, facilitate, and evaluate non-credit educational programming based on local priorities.
  • Establish clear objectives and use appropriate content and learning experiences.
  • Design and implement a variety of program delivery methods to reach target clientele.
  • Evaluate results, measure impact, and account for accomplishments to stakeholders.
  • Assist in obtaining resources needed to implement the Plan of Work.
  • Plan and provide training to equip volunteer leaders.
  • Develop and maintain two-way communications with volunteers.
  • Establish rapport with mass media for appropriate releases.
  • Serve as the County Program Coordinator (CPC) to coordinate access to WVU programs.
  • Support programming in other WVU Extension areas, including Family and Community Development and Agriculture and Natural Resources.

What We're Looking For

  • For Service Assistant Professor rank: a master’s degree.
  • For Service Instructor rank: a bachelor’s degree.
  • The required degree must be conferred by the hire date.

Nice to Have

  • Educational experience in education, youth or child development, Agriculture and Extension education, Organizational Leadership, or a closely related field.
  • Training and experience in education, youth or child development, Agriculture and Extension education, or Organizational Leadership.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skill through collaborations and partnerships with agencies and organizations.

Team & Environment

You will be responsible to the 4-H and Youth Development Program Director for all programmatic and administrative matters. You will serve as the County Program Coordinator (CPC) and be part of the broader Extension team.
