What You'll Do
Take ownership of the 2D character art pipeline for a long-standing naval warfare title, ensuring all character illustrations meet a high visual standard. Create detailed portraits and concept art in realistic and semi-realistic styles, setting the benchmark for quality. Guide both internal and outsourced artists through clear, constructive feedback and consistent direction.
Collaborate with Art Directors to align character designs with the overall artistic vision. Develop and maintain style guides and quality benchmarks to ensure uniformity across all assets. Support team growth by mentoring artists and improving their technical and creative abilities. Work closely with supervision to provide expert input on art evaluation and production standards.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of professional character art experience, including at least 1 year providing detailed feedback to other artists
- Proven portfolio showcasing strong character work in realistic and semi-realistic styles
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and solid grasp of core art principles—human anatomy, lighting, color theory, perspective, and composition
- Demonstrated ability to uphold and direct consistent art style across multiple contributors
- Experience reviewing artwork and delivering actionable critiques
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams
- Intermediate English proficiency (B2 or higher)
- Passion for character development and ongoing artistic growth
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading, coaching, or mentoring art teams
- Background managing outsourced art production
- Familiarity with matte painting methods
- Formal art education or strong foundation in traditional art
- Working knowledge of 3D software such as ZBrush, Maya, or Blender
- Practical use of AI tools in the art creation workflow
