Confluent is looking for a Software Engineering Intern to join our team in Toronto, Canada. In this role, you will design, develop, and improve customer-facing software for our industry-leading data streaming platform. You'll work on distributed systems and infrastructure problems, contributing directly to production systems that impact users.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software that touches production and has a customer-facing impact.
- Follow best practices for software development and participate in code reviews.
- Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
- Help build the next generation of Kafka by pushing the boundaries of distributed system design.
What We're Looking For
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Math, or a related technical field with a graduation date between December 2026 - August 2027.
- Self-motivated and able to drive projects with mentorship and clear requirements.
- Ability to work effectively in teams and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
- Proficient in at least one of these languages: Java, Scala, C, C++, Go.
- Driven and excited about the challenges of a fast-paced, innovative, and quickly growing software development environment.
- Interested in building large-scale distributed systems in the cloud and excited to make an impact.

- Monthly commuting stipend equivalent to $150 CAD.

This is a hybrid position based in Toronto, Canada, requiring in-office collaboration three days a week.
