AEVEX is hiring an UAS Chief Engineer- Additive Manufacturing

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical direction for unmanned systems developed through additive manufacturing, guiding projects from initial concept to field deployment and long-term support.
  • Act as the principal technical expert for system architecture, design evaluations, integration planning, and risk assessment.
  • Advance research and implementation of additive manufacturing techniques across unmanned aerial system designs.
  • Manage systems engineering activities such as requirement definition, breakdown, verification, validation, and configuration control.
  • Supervise cross-functional engineering teams covering mechanical, electrical, software, controls, AI/ML, autonomy, communications, cybersecurity, and systems disciplines.
  • Create and update technical roadmaps that respond to defense customer priorities and evolving mission needs.
  • Ensure adherence to DoD regulations, MIL-STD specifications, airworthiness and safety standards, cybersecurity protocols like RMF, and export controls including ITAR and EAR.
  • Oversee the integration of autonomy, navigation, sensor suites, communication systems, propulsion, and mission payloads into unified operational platforms.
  • Lead key technical reviews including System Requirements Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, Test Readiness Review, and Production Readiness Review.
  • Evaluate and manage technical risks affecting system reliability, survivability, resilience, and operational effectiveness.
  • Support the creation of proposals, customer presentations, and technical discussions with government and defense stakeholders.
  • Promote innovation in autonomous systems, AI-driven decision capabilities, robust communications, and human-machine collaboration.
  • Guide senior engineering personnel and establish industry-leading practices in additive manufacturing and systems engineering.
  • Perform additional assigned tasks as needed.
  • Maintain consistent, full-time attendance in accordance with the established work schedule.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct with internal and external partners in alignment with organizational policies.
  • Reflect company cultural values and support team and organizational objectives through daily actions.

  • Physical demands involve regular sitting and reaching to operate computers and office equipment.
  • Occasional physical activity accounts for up to one-third of the workday; frequent activity covers one-third to two-thirds; constant activity exceeds two-thirds of the workday.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
  • Applicant must be able to achieve and retain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance issued by the Department of Defense.
