APAC Mississippi, Inc., a CRH company, is hiring a Transportation Supervisor to manage a variety of functions related to the transportation operations within Evans Construction. You will coordinate the efficient utilization of trucking resources and personnel, ensuring safety and compliance while supporting our team. This position reports directly to the General Manager.
What You'll Do
- Ensure compliance with DOT rules and regulations.
- Verify completion of thorough Pre- and Post-Trip inspections and timely equipment start-up/shutdown.
- Apply knowledge of transportation equipment for optimal utilization.
- Recruit and hire new employees, ensuring they complete the onboarding process, including task training, Smith Systems, and required policies.
- Supervise all transportation personnel, providing training and coaching.
- Listen to employee concerns and provide positive feedback.
- Address employee problems and administer necessary disciplinary actions.
- Attend scheduling and preconstruction meetings to coordinate upcoming trucking needs with Project Superintendents.
- Help ensure on-time, safe, and efficient product delivery to job sites to reduce costs.
- Monitor employee safety and performance daily, performing periodic ride-a-longs.
- Visit job and plant sites to monitor productivity and reduce wait times.
- Review incidents to determine root cause and develop coaching action plans.
- Perform annual driver evaluations and set improvement goals.
- Review driver logs and ensure all DOT required documents are current.
- Attend safety meetings and help ensure employees complete required safety training.
- Work closely with the shop to inspect repairs and ensure cost-effective equipment maintenance.
- Identify potential dump sites and optimal haul routes.
- Prepare and distribute a daily transportation schedule.
- Assemble Hire Hauler contracts.
- Maintain and train others on Fleetwatcher.
- Maintain DOT status with FMCA and maintain WY CDL and Long Combination Vehicle training certifications.
- Manage timecards for accurate and timely payroll.
- Review Motive videos to coach or discipline as needed.
- Prepare weekly Safety Huddle materials.
- Apply for, prepare, and purchase oversize and overweight DOT permits.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three or more years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to effectively present information to customers, clients, and other employees.
Nice to Have
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred but not required to start.
