Role Overview
Seeking a qualified Civil Engineer to deliver engineering solutions for electrical transmission and distribution infrastructure, including renewable energy and substation projects. This position supports a national portfolio with a focus on technical accuracy, safety, and constructability. Work can be performed remotely or in a hybrid model from select U.S. cities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct structural and civil analysis for overhead transmission lines, covering conductor behavior, tower loading, foundation design, and alignment planning
- Develop detailed construction documentation such as plan and profile sheets, material lists, and engineering calculations
- Apply industry software including PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-TOWER for modeling and design validation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on scope definition, cost forecasting, project timelines, and field execution
- Ensure designs meet relevant standards including NESC, ASCE, and internal engineering guidelines
- Engage with contractors, regulators, and client engineers to resolve technical issues and support permitting and construction
- Respond to requests for information, perform site inspections, and verify field conditions
- Support proposal development by estimating engineering effort and task duration
- Maintain clear records and contribute to refining design practices and templates
- Address site-specific challenges such as access limitations, environmental factors, and geotechnical concerns
- Build strong working relationships with clients and internal stakeholders
- Travel as needed to client locations or project sites and participate in field surveys, including taking measurements and creating sketches
Qualifications
Candidates must have experience in civil and structural engineering as applied to transmission and distribution systems. Proficiency with relevant design tools is essential. The role requires occasional fieldwork involving ladder use and site navigation.
Work Environment
This is a remote or hybrid role with flexibility for professionals based in Charlotte, Raleigh, Columbia, Atlanta, Richmond, Nashville, Chattanooga, Orlando, or Louisville. Some travel may be required.
