United Overseas Bank Limited (UOB) is looking for a Thematic Research Analyst to identify, research, and evaluate the long-term themes shaping markets and societies. In this role, you will synthesize complex data from diverse sources to produce actionable insights for strategic decisions, investment theses, and thought leadership.
What You'll Do
- Conduct in-depth research on emerging and long-term themes, including technological innovation, sustainability, demographic shifts, and geopolitical developments.
- Develop thematic frameworks and models to assess the potential impact of trends on sectors, companies, and asset classes.
- Collaborate with investment teams, strategists, and external experts to validate and refine thematic ideas.
- Produce high-quality reports, presentations, and dashboards that communicate insights clearly to stakeholders.
- Monitor global news, academic research, and industry developments to stay ahead of evolving themes.
- Present findings to senior leadership, clients, and partners in a compelling and strategic manner.
- Contribute to the development of thematic investment products or strategies, where applicable.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Political Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- More than 5 years of experience in research, strategy, consulting, or investment analysis.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and identify patterns.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools and research databases.
- Ability to think creatively and connect disparate ideas into coherent themes.
- A passion for understanding global trends and their implications.
Nice to Have
- Experience in ESG, sustainability, or impact investing.
- Knowledge of macroeconomics and geopolitical risk analysis.
- Proficiency in Python, R, or other data analysis tools.
