STERIS is looking for an entry-level Repair Technician to perform surgical instrument inspection, repair, and refurbishment in a field-based setting. In this role, you will often work from a mobile repair truck at customer hospital sites, traveling within an assigned territory to ensure our Customers can create a healthier and safer world.
What You'll Do
- Perform surgical instrument inspection, repair, and refurbishment in a field-based setting, often from mobile repair trucks.
- Deliver a superior Customer Experience by providing timely and quality repairs to meet compliance standards.
- Execute basic to intermediate level repairs including ultrasonic function, metallurgy, buff and polish, bending, shaping, sharpening, hinge points, serrations, and brazing.
- Demonstrate quality performance in intermediate skilled work including advanced Dremel operation, Re-cup and Re-jaw, and laparoscopic inspection.
- Provide invoicing and documentation based on business need.
- Frequently travel inside hospitals while primarily working from a mobile repair truck.
- Provide support to various locations within your assigned territory based on service agreements, Customer needs, and staffing levels.
- Abide by all Company safety, health policies, and procedures, using personal protective equipment as required.
- Adhere to and comply with all protocols for the safe operation of the mobile lab.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of work experience, including at least 1 year of relevant experience, or 1 year of experience at STERIS.
- Ability to lift to 25 pounds and push instrument carts ranging from 10-150 pounds.
- Ability to meet flexible schedules with early/late hours, nights, and weekends based on Customer and business needs.
- Must be a minimum of 21 years old with ability to achieve and maintain FMCSA and driver’s license requirements.
- Must be able to pass a DOT medical/physical exam and comply with all DOT regulations.
- Ability to drive a DOT regulated vehicle and conduct basic box truck safety checks.
- A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and the ability to maintain required vaccines.
Nice to Have
- Related certifications in a technical or mechanical area.
- Competitive equipment training, or related military experience.
- Relevant hands-on experience such as repair, assembly, product testing, use of small hand tools, small engine repair, cell phone and electronics repair, carpentry, circuit board assembly and repair, sterile processing, industrial sewing, jewelry repair, maintenance, construction, or automotive repair.

- Compensation: $18.49 - $23.93 per hour, eligible for bonus participation.

Work Mode
This is a local-territory role based in New York, requiring frequent travel within the assigned region, primarily from a mobile repair truck.
