About the Role

Austin Health is looking for a Surgical Liaison Nurse to join our Planned Surgery and Endoscopy Access Team. In this role, you will be responsible for the management and coordination of patients on the Planned Surgery Preparation List, ensuring an efficient and effective pathway for planned surgery within the Division of Surgery, Anaesthesia and Procedural Medicine.

What You'll Do

  • Provide efficient, streamlined and effective patient journey preadmission processes for planned surgery patients.
  • Work closely with relevant staff including the planned surgery booking team, surgical units, unit managers, patient access and flow, bed management, outpatients, theatre & anaesthetics and other liaison nurses across Austin Health.
  • Ensure the educational needs of the patient and their carer/family are met through a variety of mediums.

What We're Looking For

  • Registered Nurse registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) without restrictions.
  • Substantial knowledge and expertise of the role and function of the Surgical Liaison Nurse.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills and demonstrated leadership ability.
  • A patient-centred approach to evidence-based care delivery.

Team & Environment

You will be part of the Planned Surgery and Endoscopy Access Team within the Division of Surgery, Anaesthesia and Procedural Medicine (SAPM), reporting to Vanessa Napoleone, Interim Planned Surgery Access Nurse Unit Manager.
