UCB was looking for a Statistician

UCB is hiring a Senior Principal Statistician to join the Biometrics & Data Science team. In this role, you will be a strong voice for Early Development Statistics, helping drive the development of UCB compounds and providing expert-level statistical support in key technical areas.

What You'll Do

  • Provide direction and continuous leadership for the Early Development Statistics team supporting compounds under development.
  • Focus your expertise on one or more of the following: clinical pharmacology statistics, pre-clinical statistics, biomarker strategy, or bioassay development.
  • Lead and influence the translation of statistical strategy into tactical planning, operations, and quality.
  • Contribute to strategic planning of non-clinical and/or clinical development plans, including study designs, design of experiments, analysis plans, and quantitative decision criteria.
  • Oversee more junior statisticians to ensure operational delivery of statistical outputs for studies.
  • Work closely with stakeholders such as research leads, biomarker leads, bioassay development leads, or quantitative clinical pharmacology leads.
  • Help lead the continuous learning and upskilling culture for a modern Biometrics organization.

What We're Looking For

  • MSc or PhD in Biostatistics, Statistics, or an equivalent field.
  • More than 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Solid knowledge of drug development across all phases.
  • Experience in Early Development, with expertise in at least one technical area: pre-clinical, translational (biomarker/bioassay), or clinical pharmacology.
  • Ability to understand how functional expertise fits into the broader development picture.
  • Proven skills as an influencer and collaborator in a development team environment.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Programming skills in R or SAS.

Team & Environment

You will report into the Head of Early Development Statistics or a technical area leader within her team, such as the Translational Statistics Lead or Clinical Pharmacology Statistics Lead.

Work Mode

This is a hybrid position. You can be based at one of our hub locations: Brussels (Belgium), Monheim (Germany), or Slough (UK). At UCB, we've embraced a hybrid-first approach to work.
