Drata is hiring a Staff Software Engineer, Monetization Platform

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Product, Finance, Accounting, RevOps, and Engineering leaders to define the future of billing architecture and commercial adaptability for both self-serve and enterprise customers.
  • Create foundational components of a modern billing system, including usage tracking, billable metrics, product definitions, pricing tables, contracts, credits, subscriptions, overage handling, and invoice processing.
  • Design a scalable architecture to precisely track product usage, convert raw data into billable units, and accommodate pricing changes without ongoing engineering effort.
  • Develop and maintain an entitlement system that decouples pricing and packaging from product functionality, enabling programmable access controls, limits, and plan configurations.
  • Coordinate with Salesforce administrators, CPQ teams, and Finance system owners to align quote-to-cash processes across CRM, product, billing, ERP, and reporting platforms.
  • Ensure billing operations are reliable through idempotent event processing, clear reconciliation paths, consistent notifications, audit trails, and strong observability for technical and business users.
  • Evaluate architecture and code for billing-related initiatives to guarantee accuracy, scalability, security, and long-term maintainability while enabling teams to manage implementation details.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues such as invoice inaccuracies, usage measurement discrepancies, edge cases in contracts, entitlement errors, migration breakdowns, and data inconsistencies across systems.
  • Lead organization-wide efforts like implementing usage-based billing, streamlining packaging models, enhancing developer experience in billing systems, or replacing fragile custom logic with modular, reusable components.
  • Guide engineers across teams in best practices for domain modeling, distributed systems design, financial integrity, and building software where product behavior directly impacts revenue recognition.
