Honeycomb is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join the Explore team. In this role, you will be responsible for technical vision, product delivery, and acting as a force multiplier. You will build core flows in the Honeycomb experience, including the primary querying UI and features like data visualizations, Trace Waterfall, and Bubble Up.
What You'll Do
- Own technical vision and meaningfully contribute to product and technical roadmaps.
- Write code across the full application stack, primarily in React, Typescript, and Golang.
- Plan and lead complex, multi-team, long-term projects.
- Mentor other engineers, including senior and tenured engineers.
- Influence company goals and strategy, potentially identifying new business growth opportunities.
- Define and model the team’s engineering brand, process, and patterns.
What We're Looking For
- Deep experience in frontend application development with experience in backend development and API design.
- Significant experience in React, Typescript, and related tooling and ecosystems.
- Experience leading teams through iterative and focused product delivery cycles.
- Experience leading teams with software in production, including technical leadership and defining patterns.
- Experience working with a cross-functional team (product triad model of design, product, and engineering).
- A flexible mindset to balance product delivery and technical debt.
- Clear, open communication skills, including giving and receiving feedback.
- An interest in observability and lessons from supporting production software.

- Compensation: $289,200 - $325,000 CAD + equity
