Atropos Health is hiring a Staff Software Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Design and build complex backend and frontend systems using Python/Django and React, shaping long-term technical strategies and influencing architectural choices.
  • Lead the development of reliable, testable, and scalable software solutions while promoting best practices and high standards of technical quality.
  • Create and manage end-to-end CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployments and maintain system reliability and uptime.
  • Work closely with product, design, and engineering teams to convert business needs into technical implementations, identifying and addressing potential risks early.
  • Enforce coding standards through thorough code reviews and promote a culture of quality, learning, and shared expertise.
  • Integrate and manage data from multiple backend sources and databases, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and efficient performance.
  • Evaluate and propose new technologies and industry advancements to align technical direction with business strategy and future growth.
  • Serve as a technical expert for diagnosing and resolving advanced system issues, providing guidance and escalation support.
  • Guide and develop junior engineers through mentorship, fostering continuous learning and technical leadership within the team.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience, including leadership of large-scale, organization-wide software projects.
  • High level of expertise in Python for backend development.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with modern JavaScript frameworks, especially React, and familiarity with ECMAScript 2025 specifications.
  • Deep understanding of front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Proficiency with version control systems like Git.
  • Experience with automated testing tools including Pytest, Testing Library, Jest, or similar, and familiarity with test-driven development.
  • Strong grasp of CI/CD concepts and practical experience setting up and managing pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS services like EC2, RDS, and S3.
  • Experience using containerization with Docker and orchestration via Kubernetes.
  • Working knowledge of both relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Understanding of web security principles and protection against common threats like XSS and CSRF.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a self-driven work ethic.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively in team settings.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in the healthcare industry is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with systems handling sensitive data, such as protected health information (PHI), or equivalent domains.
