This individual will lead technical direction, influence system design, and drive innovation within a high-visibility consumer application.
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering teams by defining clear objectives, optimizing workflows, and advising senior leadership on technical systems, challenges, and strategic direction.
- Promote and uphold technical standards, engineering best practices, and software quality across teams, while guiding the definition of technical tasks and expectations.
- Manage the full lifecycle of software components, from design through deployment and operations, while continuously improving systems and processes.
- Contribute to the development of the technical roadmap by analyzing implementation options, assessing trade-offs, and providing data-driven recommendations.
- Focus on solution delivery while helping define the technical vision, balancing competing priorities to resolve complex technical challenges.
- Apply strategic foresight to anticipate risks and consequences of technical decisions, identifying patterns to build scalable and reusable solutions.
- Lead team processes such as code and design reviews, ensuring timely, accurate, and operationally sound delivery of projects.
- Act as the primary technical resource for resolving complex issues, providing clear and effective solutions to engineering teams.
- Exercise independent technical leadership with minimal oversight, guiding teams to successful project outcomes.
- Collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including product, design, compliance, legal, and content teams, adapting communication style as needed.
Requirements
- Proven track record in building and maintaining large-scale consumer mobile apps using industry-standard UI/UX practices, with strong proficiency in Swift and iOS frameworks.
- Extensive hands-on experience integrating GraphQL and REST APIs into mobile applications.
- Demonstrated commitment to mentoring software engineers and supporting their professional development.
- Solid understanding of testing methodologies, with practical experience in mobile testing frameworks and writing unit and automated tests.
- Strong grasp of object-oriented programming, design patterns such as MVC and MVVM, algorithms, and software architecture principles.

Compensation
The base salary for this role varies by location and experience. The expected range is $176,500 - $262,350 annually in San Jose, California. Equity may be included as part of total compensation. Additional compensation may consist of an annual performance bonus or other incentives.

Hybrid — San Jose, California — 3 days in the office for in-person collaboration and 2 days remote or at a chosen workspace.
