PayPal is hiring a Staff iOS Software Engineer

Lead the creation and evolution of consumer-facing iOS applications and frameworks. Design and implement mobile solutions that are scalable, secure, and aligned with product goals. Work within an Agile environment alongside product, UX, and engineering teams. Drive innovation across the mobile platform with a focus on high-impact outcomes. Coordinate technical direction and execution across engineering initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects or systems by guiding the work of other engineers
  • Define and assign technical tasks for engineering teams
  • Deliver results that meet customer, operational, program, or service goals
  • Identify opportunities to enhance existing systems and workflows
  • Balance competing priorities such as time, quality, complexity, and risk to deliver optimal solutions
  • Recognize recurring patterns and create generalized, efficient solutions
  • Partner with leadership to establish and refine standards for engineering excellence
  • Represent the organization externally through engagements with partners, customers, or industry groups
  • Guide iOS engineers in developing features that support consumer growth
  • Design and build mobile applications, SDKs, and shared frameworks or libraries
  • Apply deep expertise in native iOS development to create high-quality mobile experiences
  • Participate in architectural planning, design discussions, code reviews, and team collaboration activities
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, product managers, QA, and operations to develop innovative solutions
  • Ensure solutions meet business requirements for functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, and alignment with development principles
  • Build automated functional testing systems
  • Create mobile application prototypes to validate concepts
  • Work iteratively with UX designers in an Agile setting to move features from concept to production

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience, or Master’s degree with at least 6 years of relevant experience
  • At least 6 years of hands-on experience in iOS development
  • Strong proficiency in multithreaded and asynchronous programming techniques
  • Extensive experience integrating RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs
  • Expert-level skills in Swift and SwiftUI for iOS application development
  • Proven ability to build declarative, reusable UI components using SwiftUI best practices
  • Solid understanding of iOS architectural patterns such as MVVM and MVC
  • Collaborative mindset with a commitment to teamwork, innovation, and inclusion
  • Interest in staying current with emerging technologies and industry trends
  • Experience working in Agile development environments
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Interest in the payments and financial technology sector

Compensation

Base pay range: $176,500 - $262,350 annually. Equity may be part of additional compensation. Annual performance bonus and other incentive compensation may be included
