Seagate is hiring a Staff Engineer, Manufacturing Process Integration to scale new wafer processes and products from late development into full volume build, supporting our Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR) technology. You will be responsible for managing wafer builds and engineering optimizations within a cross-functional environment.
What You'll Do
- Engage during the development and integration of new reader and writer technologies into the factory.
- Bring new processes to volume production readiness, potentially specializing in a specific discipline like lithography or metrology.
- Interact with personnel from Directors to Technicians and Operators to foster strong relationships.
- Develop and deliver tactical direction on critical issues and present documented results to various audiences.
- Design experiments that yield meaningful and accurate results and contribute to daily troubleshooting.
- Develop skills in Machine Learning, Generative AI, and Data Science.
- Support and develop automation using Microsoft Power Automate, Python, and OCAPs.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, or a related field with 8+ years of experience, a Master’s degree with 6+ years, or a PhD with 3+ years (or equivalent).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey complex technical subject matter.
- Ability to work in a clean room environment and be on-call for off-shift support.
- Demonstrable skill in applying design of experiments and statistical process control techniques.
- Willingness to travel to international manufacturing sites occasionally.
Nice to Have
- Multiple years of experience in semiconductor/wafer fabrication and/or data storage product development.
- A Materials Science background.
- Experience with AI and ML application.

You will report to the Wafer Process Engineering organization within Seagate's Recording Head Operations, working in a highly collaborative, cross-functional team.
