ABBYY is hiring a Staff Engineer- Backend/DevOps/Platform Engineering

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and evolution of scalable backend and platform service architectures
  • Develop and refine distributed systems and microservices-based solutions
  • Guide cross-team technical strategy to maintain consistent and scalable design approaches
  • Take full ownership of production system reliability, including uptime, performance, and scalability
  • Lead incident response, conduct root cause analyses, and implement lasting reliability enhancements
  • Proactively detect and resolve system-level performance bottlenecks
  • Set standards for CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and release processes
  • Advance DevOps maturity through automation, environment consistency, and dependable deployments
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to strengthen operational practices and platform usage
  • Define and enforce observability practices including logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting
  • Optimize system performance, scalability, and resource cost efficiency
  • Ensure comprehensive monitoring and alerting for critical services
  • Champion engineering best practices, documentation standards, and internal knowledge transfer
  • Mentor software engineers to improve technical capabilities across teams
  • Promote a culture of accountability and operational excellence in engineering
