Illumio is hiring a Staff Engineer to build containerized microservices for a distributed, multi-tenant system. You will develop services that process data and real-time events from public clouds to deliver security insights and recommendations. In this role, you will own critical features from design through deployment and mentor junior team members.
What You'll Do
- Develop containerized microservices for a distributed multi-tenant system that processes data, real-time events, and network telemetry from multiple public clouds.
- Design services, defend architecture decisions before peers, and deliver robust implementations.
- Mentor junior engineers, new graduates, and interns to foster their growth and productivity.
- Own critical features and subsystems through the entire software development lifecycle, from clarifying requirements to ensuring successful deployment.
- Own operational aspects of the system, using firsthand experience to write more supportable software.
- Own code quality through early developer testing and functional and integration testing.
- Partner with Product Management to review and refine requirements.
- Develop a deep understanding of fundamental customer problems through interaction with stakeholders and peers.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or an equivalent field.
- 8+ years of experience building distributed and scalable software and systems.
- Passion for software development, with a willingness to constantly learn, keep up with technological trends, and work in a team setting.
- Extensive AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud experience at the API/programming level.
- Experience delivering a containerized service in a Kubernetes-based platform.
- Experience in Go and SQL.
- REST API client experience.
- General TCP/IP networking knowledge.
- Experience in a Unix/Linux programming environment.
Nice to Have
- A Master’s degree.
- Experience with networking and security controls.
- Familiarity with CloudFormation, Terraform, or Ansible.
