At Rula, we believe mental health is just as important as physical health. We are seeking a Staff Conversational Designer to establish the foundation for AI-powered patient experiences. You will define how conversational AI can transform the way patients access care by building design frameworks, reviewing model outputs, honing prompts, and ensuring inputs yield the desired conversational outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Build design frameworks for conversational AI.
- Review model outputs for AI-powered patient experiences.
- Hone prompts for conversational AI.
- Ensure the ways inputs are defined get the needed conversational outputs.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and clinical experts.
- Design natural interactions that balance trust, accessibility, and efficiency.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in conversation design, UX writing, or related roles in AI-driven and/or ML-driven products.
- Proven ability to design and test conversational flows for chatbots, virtual assistants, or other AI products.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (product, engineering, clinical).
- Strong portfolio demonstrating clear problem-solving through conversational interfaces.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with sensitivity to tone, clarity, and inclusivity.
Nice to Have
- Experience designing interfaces for high-trust domains.
- Knowledge of LLMs, natural language understanding, and emerging AI technologies.
- Familiarity with usability testing, A/B testing, or analytics for conversational flows.
- Background in linguistics, psychology, or behavioral design.
- Prior experience in a high-growth start-up environment.
