Schnabel Engineering is hiring a Staff Civil Engineer to join our Longmont, CO office. This full-time entry-level role focuses on critical infrastructure within our dams, tunnels, and water resources engineering groups. You'll develop both field and analytical skills as part of a collaborative team of geologists and engineers.
What You'll Do
- Assist in planning and performing geotechnical investigations and analyses.
- Assist in reinforced concrete and earthen embankment design.
- Perform civil engineering calculations with guidance from senior engineers.
- Assist in preparing design drawings, technical specifications, and contract documents.
- Draft and assist in preparing technical reports.
- Perform field construction observation, documentation, and materials testing for dams, embankments, slurry walls, spillways, pipelines, and hydraulic structures.
- Prepare data-driven graphics for reports, papers, and presentations.
- Create Excel tables for data entry and calculate quantities for cost estimates.
- Travel as required for project assignments.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- 0-3 years of experience in civil engineering.
- Strong interest or background in geotechnical engineering, material testing, or construction observation.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Good organizational skill, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently after training.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and desire to learn.
- Willingness to perform a variety of office and field tasks, work outdoors, and travel.
- Ability to routinely lift up to 40 pounds.
- Valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, and willingness to drive to job sites.
- Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
