KoBold Metals is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to develop, improve, and expand the services that power our products. You will focus on enhancing our feature set and contributing to codebase modernization while collaborating closely with engineering and product teams.

What You'll Do

• Drive technical excellence across teams by mentoring Senior and Mid-level Engineers.
• Advocate for engineering solutions that align with product strategy and business outcomes.
• Create, manage, and improve back end services to provide clients with data accurately and efficiently.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives to evolve platform architecture and influence technical direction company-wide.
• Translate deep systems knowledge into high-impact architectural decisions and frameworks.
• Leverage AI-powered developer tools to boost team productivity and ensure best practices.

What We're Looking For

• Extensive engineering experience designing robust and scalable services.
• Expertise in one back end language with experience in others.
• Experience mentoring other engineers and a desire to continue doing so.
• Solid background writing understandable, testable, and efficient code in a language such as Golang, Python, Java, C# or Node.js.
• Ability to stay current with emerging AI technologies and evaluate their applicability.
• Clear communication of technical concepts to engineers and other parts of the organization.
• Adaptability to changing priorities, team structures, and technical directions.
• Initiative in addressing issues or seeking support from team members.
• Experience with and advocacy for automated testing.
• Experience using version control—we use git and Github.
• Must live in or be willing to relocate to one of the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington.

• Extensive experience with GoLang.
• Experience with AI-powered development tools.
• Experience writing and maintaining APIs.
• Experience with API migrations.
• Experience with Test Driven Development.
