Angel is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) to join the Product & Engineering team. This full-time role is open to candidates in Provo, UT or remotely within the US, focusing on backend development and system architecture.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement scalable backend services and APIs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and ship new features
- Optimize performance and reliability of backend systems
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices
- Work closely with product managers to understand requirements and deliver solutions
- Maintain and improve system architecture and documentation
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of professional software development experience
- Strong proficiency in backend languages such as Python, Java, or Go
- Experience with distributed systems and microservices architecture
- Proven ability to design and maintain scalable APIs
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP
- Strong understanding of database design and query optimization
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and mentor junior engineers
Nice to Have
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Background in real-time communication systems or messaging platforms
- Contributions to open-source projects
- Experience in agile development environments
