Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Architect an internal engineering platform enabling self-service production system deployment
- Establish standardized, deterministic automation optimizing user accessibility and system reliability
- Collaborate with Infrastructure and Developer Productivity teams to deliver exceptional internal capabilities
- Participate in on-call rotations supporting platform service deployments and infrastructure management
Candidate Requirements:
- 5+ years experience with modern programming languages (Golang, Ruby, TypeScript)
- 3+ years Kubernetes experience, preferably using Crossplane for Infrastructure as Code
- Demonstrated work ethic and ability to operate effectively amid uncertainty
- Systems thinking approach to complex environments
- Resilient problem-solving skills prioritizing peer and customer support
- Advanced communication skills simplifying complex concepts
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience designing streamlined systems emphasizing engineering experience, reliability, and security
- Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), IaaS management tools like Terraform
- Incident remediation expertise for complex system environments
Compensation ranges from $163,000-$204,000 for most locations, with higher rates in San Francisco, Seattle, and New York.
Gusto maintains physical offices in Denver, San Francisco, and New York, with hybrid work expectations of 2-3 weekly in-office days. Remote work requires consistent, secure internet connectivity.
