The Sr. MDM Engineer will lead the global mobile device and application management strategy using VMware Workspace ONE, securing and managing mobile endpoints across iOS, Android, and other platforms while ensuring compliance and a seamless user experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead the deployment, configuration, and ongoing management of Workspace ONE UEM for the organization’s mobile fleet, including policy enforcement, profile management, and compliance oversight.
- Design and maintain security policies for device encryption, passcode requirements, remote wipe capabilities, app allow/block lists, and conditional access across supported mobile platforms.
- Manage the packaging, distribution, and lifecycle of internal and third-party mobile applications using Workspace ONE MAM, ensuring secure and reliable app performance.
- Provide expert-level support for mobile device and application issues, ensuring smooth user onboarding and optimal experience while meeting security and compliance standards.
- Integrate MDM systems with identity and security platforms such as SSO (Okta), endpoint detection (CrowdStrike Falcon), and mobile threat defense solutions.
- Monitor device compliance, generate reports and dashboards, and collaborate with InfoSec and Audit teams to validate adherence to organizational policies.
- Evaluate new MDM technologies, track mobile OS updates, and collaborate with global teams to enhance mobile strategy and operations.
- Develop and maintain documentation for processes, workflows, and policies, and automate routine MDM tasks and enrollment procedures using scripts or native tools.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in enterprise mobile device and application management, with strong proficiency in Workspace ONE UEM; Workspace ONE Admin certification is a plus.
- Advanced expertise in Omnissa Workspace ONE platform and its components.
- Comprehensive understanding of iOS and Android enterprise mobility features, including device enrollment, supervision, managed applications, app configuration, and compliance enforcement.
- Experience with Apple Business Manager (ABM), Google Enterprise, and their integration into Workspace ONE.
- Strong knowledge of MDM and MAM policies, including security hardening, user profiles, certificate-based authentication, VPN, Wi-Fi, and conditional access controls.
- Hands-on experience deploying mobile applications (public and in-house), troubleshooting OS and app-level issues, and maintaining consistent app versions across devices.
- Proficiency in scripting for automation using PowerShell, Python, or Workspace ONE APIs.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across IT, Security, Compliance, and Support teams.
- Dedicated to delivering a secure and seamless end-user experience while proactively balancing productivity and risk management.
Nice to Have
- Experience integrating Workspace ONE with Okta, Azure AD, MTD platforms, or identity-aware proxies.
- Understanding of Zero Trust principles and the role of MDM in modern access control models.
- Experience in high-growth or global enterprise environments supporting over 10,000 mobile devices.
- Familiarity with managing Windows 11 or macOS devices via Workspace ONE or Intune.
- Certifications such as Workspace ONE UEM Specialist/Admin, CompTIA Mobility+, or equivalent mobile-focused credentials.
