Allstate is looking for a Sr. Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator to ensure a safe and compliant work environment by developing, implementing, and overseeing EH&S policies, procedures, and programs. You will be responsible for full compliance with Mexican federal, state, and local regulations, as well as internal safety and environmental standards, supporting our team in Tijuana.
What You'll Do
- Act as a liaison with departments like HR, Production, and Facilities to implement EH&S governance and performance metrics.
- Manage compliance with NOM/STPS regulations and maintain all necessary operational permits and reports.
- Develop and update contingency and emergency response plans; coordinate emergency brigades for firefighting, evacuation, and first aid.
- Design, monitor, and audit environmental systems to meet federal, state, local, and internal standards.
- Develop and implement health and safety programs to prevent or correct unsafe working conditions.
- Conduct risk assessments for high-risk activities such as working at heights or welding.
- Investigate workplace incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Lead and coordinate the Internal Health & Safety Commission.
- Attend and support government inspections, audits, and administrative visits as required.
- Develop and deliver health, safety, and hygiene training to employees and vendors.
- Guide employees, vendors, and new hires on EH&S procedures, concerns, and compliance requirements.
- Communicate policies, procedures, and regulations to all staff and escalate to corporate as needed.
- Oversee the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials, including waste from the onsite medical office.
- Follow up on non-compliance issues, ensure corrective actions are implemented and sustained.
- Ensure appropriate EH&S resources are available and manage annual budgeting for safety equipment and program implementation.
- Recommend the purchase of PPE and environmental control equipment based on operational needs.
- Coordinate required labor and environmental studies for compliance and annual permits.
What We're Looking For
- 3–5 years of experience coordinating health and safety programs within industrial or facilities environments in Mexico.
- Solid knowledge of Mexican federal, state, and local regulations, including NOMs and other requirements from the Secretaría del Trabajo y Previsión Social (STPS).
- Experience with root cause analysis and hazardous waste management in alignment with local regulatory standards.
- Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, capable of effectively communicating across all levels of the organization.
- Leadership, analytical thinking, attention to detail, collaboration across functions, strong communication skills, initiative, teamwork, adaptability, and effective problem-solving.
Nice to Have
- Experience with waste recycling programs in alignment with local regulatory standards.
