Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the site's EHS Management System in alignment with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and New Jersey state and local regulatory requirements.
- Create, update, and enforce EHS policies, operational procedures, and safety programs across the facility.
- Oversee environmental compliance activities including hazardous and universal waste management, wastewater discharge, air emissions reporting, Tier II/SARA submissions, and NJDEP permit adherence.
- Lead or assist biosafety functions, including oversight of biosafety protocols for BSL-2 and BSL-2+ plasmid and lentiviral work.
- Ensure safe handling practices for biological agents, viral vectors, chemicals, cryogenic materials such as liquid nitrogen, and compressed gases.
- Organize and manage industrial hygiene evaluations and occupational health initiatives, including respiratory protection and medical monitoring programs.
- Conduct EHS risk assessments, investigate incidents and near misses, perform root cause analyses, manage corrective and preventive actions, and track key performance indicators.
- Deliver onboarding and recurring EHS training, maintain active engagement on the production floor, and guide operational leaders on safety practices.
- Serve as the primary EHS representative during client audits, regulatory inspections, and site visits; support EHS components of quality and technical agreements.
- Lead the development, maintenance, and execution of the site's Emergency Response Plan, including coordination of emergency drills and collaboration with external emergency services.
