Squad is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer - Ruby to build and maintain the core services that power our platform's marketing capabilities for thousands of ecommerce merchants. This role goes beyond simple API development, focusing on designing and implementing reliable, performant, and scalable business-critical features.

What You'll Do

Develop and maintain backend features and services using Ruby on Rails, ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability.
Develop and maintain RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
Design business logic and backend services that scale with a growing user base.
Ensure high standards of data integrity, performance, and security.
Collaborate with frontend engineers on contract testing, API structure, and seamless service integration.
Contribute to backend architecture decisions, refactoring efforts, and performance optimization.
Prototype new ideas and write comprehensive test plans.
Set measurable goals and consistently meet them.
Conduct code reviews and refactor complex code into manageable tasks.
Communicate with users to collect requirements, negotiate scope, and align with business objectives.

What We're Looking For

5+ years of experience in backend development, preferably in a product-led company.
Deep experience with Ruby on Rails.
Strong grasp of REST and/or GraphQL API design principles.
Familiarity with integrating APIs into frontend applications.
Solid understanding of database modeling and data lifecycle.
