Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors is looking for a Software Engineer - Recorder to build its next-generation audio and video editing platform. You will solve complex technical challenges in real-time media processing, video streaming, and cross-browser compatibility, contributing directly to core product functionality and emerging AI-powered features.
What You'll Do
- Implement and maintain web-based audio and video recording and editing functionality using modern web technologies.
- Collaborate with designers and product managers to translate Figma designs into high-quality React components.
- Develop and optimize frontend code with Redux, sagas, and media APIs to support cross-browser functionality.
- Enhance platform performance and reliability for complex, large-scale web applications.
- Plan, ticket, and estimate projects while coordinating across multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Explore emerging web standards and prototype innovative media solutions.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of code quality, testing practices, and user experience.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience building scalable web applications with React and frontend media technologies.
- Strong understanding of media APIs (MediaRecorder, WebRTC) and real-time audio/video processing.
- Experience with cross-browser compatibility and performance optimization.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, estimate, and execute projects in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Bias toward action with a focus on delivering value to users quickly and efficiently.
- Technical curiosity, creativity, and the ability to handle complex projects with confidence.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to quality through self-driven testing and automation.
Nice to Have
- Background in audio/video production, DJing, contributions to open source or personal creative tools projects.
