HII Mission Technologies is hiring a Front-End Developer to join the Warfare Systems Business Group. You will design and build intuitive, responsive web interfaces for mission-critical applications supporting the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA). Using React as the primary framework, you'll bridge user research, visual design, and development to deliver accessible applications that enhance tracking, oversight, and decision-making in security cooperation.
What You'll Do
- Develop responsive, high-quality web interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and React (including hooks, functional components, and state management).
- Plan and conduct user research; analyze feedback and analytics to understand user needs in defense contexts.
- Create user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes using tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
- Conduct usability testing with stakeholders, identify issues, and iterate on designs to improve user experience.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate designs into production code, integrate APIs, and ensure seamless functionality.
- Apply color theory, typography, and layout principles to create aesthetically pleasing interfaces aligned with DSCA design standards.
- Implement design systems, reusable UI component libraries, and patterns to promote accessibility (WCAG/Section 508), compatibility, and performance.
- Design, develop, debug, and maintain websites for internal and external communications, ensuring availability, security, and cohesive design.
- Research and evaluate new related technologies and ensure software standards are met.
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated skills in user research, prototyping, usability testing, and iterative design.
- Experience with design tools (Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch), front-end build tools (Webpack, Vite), and configuration management tools (Git, Nexus, Maven).
- Knowledge of accessibility standards, responsive design, and performance best practices.
- Ability to work independently while thriving in collaborative team settings.
- Self-motivated initiator with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
- Remote-eligible position; must align with Eastern Time Zone core business hours.
- Must possess and maintain an active Secret clearance.
- For UI/UX Website Designer II: 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors; 0 years with Masters; or High School Diploma and 6 years experience.
- For UI/UX Website Designer III: 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors; 3 years with Masters; 0 years with PhD; or High School Diploma and 9 years experience.
Nice to Have
- Proficiency in React for building complex, responsive UIs, with experience in modern JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystems.
- Direct experience applying DSCA UI/UX design standards, style guides, or templates in security cooperation applications.
- Familiarity with DoD accessibility requirements (Section 508/WCAG), security marking tools, and classification handling.
- Experience integrating front-end with back-end APIs in secure environments.
- Understanding of AGILE software development methodologies and use of standard tool suites (JIRA, Confluence, GitHub).
- Experience in SAFe Agile environments, including participation in PI planning and DevSecOps practices.
- Portfolio demonstrating UI/UX work in government/contractor settings for complex enterprise systems.

- Compensation: $90,000.00 - $130,000.00 (UI/UX Website Designer II: $90,000 - $105,000; UI/UX Website Designer III: $115,000 - $130,000)
