At HERE Technologies, we are looking for a Software Engineer to join our NDS (Navigation Database Standard) Technologies team. You will grow our map compilation product to create the most comprehensive high-definition live map in the market, supporting precise navigation for self-driving cars. You'll dive deep into how we capture the real world, work with our reality index, and ensure this data flows directly into vehicles.

What You'll Do

Work on all phases of the software development lifecycle including design, coding, testing, release and support.
Own one or more components of software architecture in the immediate environment.
Assist in developing components for map processing and validation workflows.
Analyze and debug pipeline issues using logs and visualization tools.
Support the team in documentation, testing, and internal demos.
Be part of an agile team, share knowledge, do code reviews, and maintain pro-active communication.
Drive and improve engineering best practices (e.g., agile, coding, verification).

What We're Looking For

4+ years of related experience in a software development role with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent work experience.
Application development experience with Java/Scala.
Exposure to AWS and Big Data tools like Spark and EMR.
Experience in one of the databases and writing efficient SQL queries.
Familiarity with Git, REST APIs, and basic Linux commands.
Strong logical and problem-solving skills, including knowledge of Data Structures and Algorithms.
Solid knowledge of programming practices, striving to write great code that is reusable, flexible, and reliable.
Self-motivated, well-organized, detail-oriented, and a strong team player with an agile mindset.
A strong quality mindset focused on writing testable code.
Very good communication and analytical skills with the ability to quickly understand complex scenarios.

Nice to Have

Experience with Python.
