At Kin Insurance, we are looking for a Software Engineer, Front-End Focus to build the core products and features that power our company. You’ll tackle complex engineering challenges while collaborating closely with peers in Development, Product, QA, and cross-functional teams. As a senior member, you will also mentor junior engineers and occasionally lead small teams.

What You'll Do

Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code primarily in Ruby on Rails, with occasional work in Python and Typescript.
Set high standards for the Engineering team by example.
Lead pair programming sessions and provide mentorship to team members.
Drive and foster advanced design or architectural tasks.
Develop technical roadmaps.
Participate in daily stand-ups and weekly retrospectives.
Collaborate with cross-functional team members, including Insurance Product and Actuarial teams.
Provide subject matter expertise and support.

What We're Looking For

A track record of shipping small to medium size software projects.
Proficiency in Javascript/Typescript, HTML, and CSS/SCSS.
Experience with a modern SPA framework (Angular 2+ preferred), including integration of API calls and state management (NgRx/Redux).
Experience building or composing with Web Components.
Familiarity with BEM methodology, Object-Oriented CSS principles, and custom component library development.
Experience working with APIs.
Comfortable in a fast-paced, self-motivated startup environment.
A fast learner, ready to bring previous knowledge and continue developing.

Nice to Have

Ruby on Rails experience.
Location in Central or Eastern time zones (CST & EST).
