General Dynamics Mission Systems is hiring a Software Engineer to join the NC3 business segment. In this role, you will be a member of a cross-functional team responsible for developing the next generation of NC3 strategic deterrence systems.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and implement product features.
- Participate in code reviews to discuss and uphold software quality standards.
- Apply software testing methodologies across the spectrum, including Unit, Functional, and Integration testing.
- Communicate technical ideas, describing system functions, inputs, outputs, behaviors, and diagramming concepts.
- Understand and follow the established software development lifecycle (SDLC).
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology, or Mathematics field.
- 2+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree and 6 months of job-related experience.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Agile methodologies.
- Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire.
- Familiarity with at least one mainstream IDE like Visual Studio or JetBrains.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to break down complex issues.
- Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
- Familiarity with DevOps-based development and deployment from CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with virtualization and/or containerization technologies like Hypervisors or Kubernetes.
- Networking skills, including the ability to describe concepts and experience configuring routers or switches.
- A strong understanding of the software development process and core engineering concepts.
- Creative thinking with the ability to apply new information quickly to solve challenging problems.
- Comfort providing technical leadership.
