BMW Group is hiring a Software Engineer to join our data initiatives. You will collaborate with Data Scientists and Data Engineers on the production implementation of use cases for our on-premise Big Data Cluster and our cloud-based Big Data solution. Your work will focus on creating actionable insights for the business through AI tools and visualization platforms.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with Data Scientists and Data Engineers on production implementation of use cases for Big Data Cluster on-prem and in the cloud.
- Work closely with AI tools, both executing and creating new use cases.
- Use visualization platforms with data and AI tooling to create visuals for business stakeholders.
- Support the creation and maintenance of data pipeline architecture.
- Assist in assembling large, complex data sets that meet functional business requirements.
- Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements, such as automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, and re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability.
- Build infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from various sources using SQL and AWS ‘big data’ technologies.
- Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency, and other key business performance metrics.
- Keep data separate and secure across different business organizations.
- Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems.
- Communicate with team members and customers using tools like Outlook, Skype, and Teams.
- Update and track tasks using tools like Jira and Confluence.
- Support migration from On-Prem to Cloud Data Hub planned for Q2 2020, involving data ingestion using terraform scripts, glue catalog, glue jobs, depersonalization APIs, and creating views in cloud.
- Support HR Use Cases by ingesting data assets into cloud, performing data transformation activities, and integrating reports with the Cloud Data Hub.
What We're Looking For
- Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major).
- Be an enrolled student at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.
- Have completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application.
- Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours / week).
- Transfer students must have a GPA from current university.
- Must attach a copy of unofficial transcript.
- Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.
- The work term dates are August 10th - December 11th, 2026.
- Must be an enrolled student during all three rotations.
