Mapbox is hiring a Software Development Engineer II to own and implement data publication services for our 3D/HD, ADAS, and Navigation map data. You will be responsible for building and scaling cloud applications that deliver critical map data to autonomous and advanced driver-assistance systems.
What You'll Do
- Implement a new data publication service (format, layers, tiles) for 3D/HD data used by self-driving vehicles.
- Expand data publication capabilities for ADAS and Navigation map data, adding new formats and data types.
- Code and implement data processing and conversion within cloud applications using Python, Scala, SQL, AWS, and Spark, focusing on high scalability and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with multiple R&D teams to integrate data seamlessly into final products.
- Engage directly with leading automotive customers (OEMs in the EU, US, and Japan) and suppliers like Tier 1 automotive companies.
What We're Looking For
- Proficiency in Python, Scala, or similar languages for data processing and cloud development.
- Experience deploying data pipelines within scalable cloud applications, preferably on AWS and Spark.
- Strong understanding of geospatial data concepts and tools like PostGIS and QGIS.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Outstanding communication and a proven ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
- Early morning availability to maximize time zone overlap with teams in Europe.
Nice to Have
- Experience with map data formats such as GeoJSON, Mapbox Vector Tile Format, NDS.Live, OpenUSD, OpenDRIVE, or Mathworks Matlab RoadRunner.
