Zoom is hiring a Software Development Engineer

About the Role

Zoom is looking for a Software Development Engineer to build scalable, cloud-native web applications for the Zoom Apps ecosystem. You'll work across the full stack to shape seamless in-meeting experiences across Zoom Meeting, Webinar, Chat, and Phone.

What You'll Do

  • Scale distributed web applications, making architectural trade-offs, and applying synchronous and asynchronous design patterns.
  • Own the end-to-end development of the BuiltByZoom progressive web application, from prototyping to production.
  • Write clean, maintainable code, and champion Test-Driven Development to ensure robust, well-tested features.
  • Partner with product managers, designers, and QA to translate requirements into timely, high-quality releases.
  • Iterate quickly on real-time audio/video communication solutions in the browser to validate new ideas.
  • Foster a supportive team environment through open communication, respect, empathy, and accountability.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and advocate for standards that improve performance, reliability, and developer productivity.
  • Keep the end user front of mind and strive for seamless experiences that fulfill the mission to 'Deliver Happiness.'

What We're Looking For

  • Proven mastery of Node.js, Ruby on Rails, or Django/Python web frameworks acquired through extensive practical experience.
  • Expertise in developing single-page and progressive web applications.
  • Excellent SQL skills and familiarity with relational database design.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform for containers and orchestration.
  • Experience deploying and operating services on AWS, GCP, or Azure cloud platforms.
  • Comfort applying MVC, MVVM, and microservices architectures.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, clear written and verbal communication skills, and a collaborative mindset.

  • Compensation: $87,600.00 - $186,000.00
